Housing Development

DakotaPlex

In response to the shortage of affordable housing in our rural communities, South Dakota Housing Development Authority created the DakotaPlex Program. DakotaPlex units are built by the prison inmates at the Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield. Units are based off of the Governor's Houses and are one, two and three bedroom units to be used as a duplex, triplex or quadriplex. DakotaPlex units must be placed in rural communities of populations of 5,000 or less.
