The free brownfields webinar will be offered as a series and focus on brownfields resources and grant- writing information for those organizations interested in applying (or re-applying) for U.S. EPA Assessment, Multipurpose and Cleanup Grants. The focus for Part 1 on July 8 will be an overview of the brownfields redevelopment process and resources available. The focus for Part 2, on July 15 will be grant-writing tips and tricks. Participants will learn:

  • State and Federal brownfield redevelopment resources;
  • Partnering strategies required for successful application;
  • Leveraging resources beyond grant dollars; and,
  • Tips for putting together a successful grant application package.

EPA Brownfield Grants provide funds to empower states, communities, tribes, and nonprofit organizations to prevent, inventory, assess, clean up, and reuse brownfield sites. Grant solicitations are issued annually in early to late fall with awards being announced the following spring. The next grant cycle is anticipated for release in late August 2020.

Who should attend? Economic and community development organizations, local, regional, and tribal government officials and their grant writers, not-for-profit entities, and others working to promote economic development in South Dakota.
