South Dakota Housing Development Authority has $500,000 available in HOME Homeowner Rehabilitation program funds for eligible organizations to assist low income homeowners rehabilitate their homes. Eligible organizations that can apply for the HOME Homeowner Rehabilitation program include Community Action Program (CAP) agencies, public agencies and non-profit organizations.

Paint-South Dakota volunteers to revitalize 25 homes in 22 communities
PIERRE, S.D. (5/7/13) -- Across South Dakota, volunteers are picking up paint brushes and setting aside free time to help residents in their communities to maintain the value and livability of their homes. The groups, using primer and paint donated by South Dakota Housing Development Authority, are repainting homes whose owners are physically or financially unable to handle the project themselves.

SDHDA Awards $9.51 Million in Housing Development and Rehabilitation Funding
Yesterday South Dakota Housing Development Authority’s (SDHDA) Board of Commissioners approved $2.78 million in Housing Tax Credits, $5.64 million in HOME Investment Partnerships Program funding and $1.09 million in Neighborhood Stabilization Program 3 (NSP3) funding for housing development and rehabilitation across the state.

The Bollinger Foundation, a charitable foundation created to provide financial assistance to families of workers in the housing and community development field, is seeking nominations for this year’s awards. Assistance is available to families who have lost a parent or guardian where the deceased or surviving parent or guardian worked or works in affordable housing, community development, or economic development. Grants are primarily awarded for educational expenses, including special educational needs, school materials, and college tuition.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for administration of the Performance Based Rental Assistance Program and tracks progress, monitors and evaluates performance for the department, and prepares reports for director and HUD. Also responsible for reviewing and approving contract renewals and rent adjustments for multifamily properties assisted with HUD federal housing programs. Works closely with other officers within the office as well as property managers and owners throughout the state.

Today SDHDA adjusted it's First-time Homebuyer Interest Rates to reflect current market conditions. As a first-time homebuyer you receive the benefit of no origination fees and no discount fees if you use a SDHDA loan product, unless you choose to buy the conventional mortgage rate down.
The benefit of no origination fees and no discount fees, for example, on a $150,000 loan, will save you on average $3,000 in closing costs.
