Notice of Public Comment and Meeting:
Housing and Community Development Plan

The South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) and the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) invite the public to comment on the proposed 2003 Five-Year Consolidated Plan.

The 2003 Five-Year Consolidated Plan details how the state will allocate its housing and community development resources through February 2008. Specifically the Consolidated Plan describes the state's strategy to allocate funds under the HOME Program ($3 million), the CDBG Program ($7.6 million), the Emergency Shelter Grants Program ($350,000), and the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Program.

A public meeting to accept comments on the Plan will be held at 2:00 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2003. The meeting will be held at the following DDN sites: Pierre at Capitol A, Vermillion at University of South Dakota I, Madison at Dakota State University, Rapid City at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, Sioux Falls at Southeast Technical Institute, Brookings at South Dakota State University I, Spearfish at Black Hills State University, Aberdeen at Northern State University and Watertown at Lake Area Technical Institute. Written comments are also being accepted through 5 p.m. Central Time on Friday, January 10, 2003.

Copies of the Plan may be obtained without charge from SDHDA at PO Box 1237, Pierre, South Dakota 57501-1237, by calling (605) 773-3181 or (TTY) (605) 773-6107, or by visiting their home page at www.sdhda.org.

Persons interested in presenting comments may do so by attending the public meeting on January 7, as listed above, or by sending written comments to SDHDA at PO Box 1237, Pierre, SD 57501-1237, or by E-mail to vona@sdhda.org. Comments specific to the community development portion of the plan may be sent to the attention of Steve Harding at the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED) at 711 E. Wells Avenue, Pierre, SD 57501; faxed to (605) 773-3256; or E-mailed to Steve.Harding@state.sd.us. All written comments must be received by 5 p.m. Central Time on January 10, 2003.

Notice is further given to handicapped individuals that the January 7 meeting is being held in physically accessible locations. Please notify the above-mentioned office within 48 hours of the public hearing if you have special needs for which this agency will need to make arrangements. Alternative formats of the plans are available to persons with disabilities.
