SDHDA’s 15th Annual Housing Conference Explores Everything
from Homelessness to Homebuilding
(Pierre) – This year’s 2005 Annual Housing Conference, November 8 and 9 at the Ramkota RiverCentre in Pierre, is South Dakota’s largest and most comprehensive affordable housing event of the year and will feature two of the top National speakers in their fields.
David Crowe, Senior Vice President for Federal Regulatory and Housing Policy with the National Association of Homebuilders in Washington D.C. will be kicking off the event. Crowe and the NAHB have recently completed an economic impact study on home building in the Sioux Falls and Rapid City metropolitan areas. Crowe will be presenting the findings of those studies and discussing what the homebuilding and mortgage finance industries for all income levels can mean to a community’s economy.
Philip F. Mangano, Executive Director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, in Washington, D.C., will open the second day with discussion on the role everyone has in ending homelessness.
Appointed by President Bush in 2002, for the coordination of 20 federal agencies in their response to reduce and end homelessness, Mangano will also discuss the cost of emergency care versus permanent supportive housing; successful solutions from other communities across the nation; and what is currently being done in South Dakota.
