Governor Rounds Appoints Word and Jones to SDHDA Board
Pierre – Governor Mike Rounds has named Zack Word of Rapid City and Curt Jones of Britton to serve on the South Dakota Housing Development Authority’s (SDHDA) Board of Commissioners.
Zack Word resides in Rapid City and is a retired rancher and spent 25 years working for Farm Credit Services. Zack is a graduate of South Dakota State University and has been a member of the SDSU Alumni Board. “I have always admired the work SDHDA has done for affordable housing in South Dakota and am honored to be chosen by the Governor to serve on the Board,” commented Word.
Curt Jones is a native to South Dakota and owns and operates a farm near Britton. Curt was a member of the South Dakota Legislature for 16 years, starting in the early 70s, serving as a Senator. Curt has served on a variety of state and local committees, boards and task forces, including the Board of Regents, and presently is working with a group involved in restoring and developing Fort Sisseton . “I look forward to the opportunity of learning and working with the housing authority,” said Jones.
The two new members join current Board Members Kevin Culhane of Yankton, John Rothstein of Mobridge, Chris Houllette of Pierre , Cindy Mydland of Brookings, and Bob Sutton of Pierre
“We are excited to have these two joining us,” said Rothstein, the Board’s Chairman. “There backgrounds and knowledge will give the Board an excellent balance.”
SDHDA’s Commissioners are appointed by the Governor and serve to establish policy for the organization and oversee its operation.
The South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) is an independent, quasi-public agency that finances and develops affordable housing opportunities for low and moderate-income residents throughout South Dakota. SDHDA is totally self-supporting and receives no tax money, appropriations or other funding from the State. SDHDA does not discriminate against any person because of race, color, creed, religion, sex, handicapped, familial status or national origin.
