SUBJECT: HUD Notice H 01-02 (Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Disability/Accessibility Provisions of the Fair Housing Act of 1988)
DATE: July 23, 2001
Attached is one copy of HUD Notice H 01-02. This notice, issued on February 6, 2001, contains a requirement that certain owners and agents provide all current and future contractors and vendors a copy of this notice.
Please review the attachment carefully to determine if the Notice applies to your property. If your property is affected, you must comply with the requirements including the requirement to notify your vendors. The cost of mailing such notices may be high; therefore, I recommend that you selectively notify those contractors and vendors with whom you are currently doing business. As the need to enter agreements with other contractors arises, you should provide those parties a copy of the notice.
If you are subject to file reviews by HUD, SDHDA, or Rural Development, you should keep a record of all such notices sent to your vendors and be prepared to provide documentation of compliance.
