Housing Authority Executive Director Announces Retirement
Pierre -- South Dakota Housing Development Authority (SDHDA) Executive Director Dar Baum is retiring March 31, 2006.
“Dar has been a true asset to the citizens of South Dakota through her work with the Housing Development Authority,” said Gov. Mike Rounds on the announcement. “I appreciate and thank Dar for her commitment and leadership over the past 30 years and wish her success in the future. Dar has set a great example of public service to the citizens of our state. She will be truly missed.”
Baum has been with the agency since 1975 and served in various capacities, including serving as Deputy Executive Director for ten years prior to being appointed Executive Director in September of 1995.
After thirty years with the agency, Baum cited “the strong support of the Governor’s office, the SDHDA Board’s willingness to entertain new ideas, and the exemplary partnerships that SDHDA staff has developed with local governments, community leaders, non-profits and for-profit housing providers as key to the success of the Authority.”
