Homeownership Education Resource Organization (H.E.R.O.) Hires Coordinator

Jennifer Smith, H.E.R.O State Coordinator

With grants from the South Dakota Community Foundation and Fannie Mae, SDHDA is currently in the process of developing the Homeownership Education Resource Organization (H.E.R.O.).

Recently, Jennifer Smith was hired as the State Coordinator for H.E.R.O.

Jennifer is a graduate of Augustana University in Sioux Falls with degrees in Business and Government.

"The challenge of starting a new organization, such as H.E.R.O., is a great opportunity," says Jennifer.  "An Organization such as this will be a tremendous benefit to homeownership education providers statewide and will ultimately benefit homebuyers themselves."

The ultimate goal of     H.E.R.O., a separate 501(c)(3) organization, will be to provide for centralized grant writing to eliminate duplicative administrative tasks, provide standardized curriculum that housing professionals throughout South Dakota can rely upon, and unify efforts statewide to advance homeownership education issues.

H.E.R.O. will also help reach consumers who currently do not have access to homeownership counseling or education.
