From start to finish SDHDA's 12th Annual Housing Conference is an event you will want to be sure to attend.

This year's conference, beginning the afternoon of Tuesday, November 19, will open with Milroy Alexander, Executive Director of the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority and member of the Millennial Housing Commission, sharing an overview of the findings of the Congressionally  established Commission.  Following that will be the release of preliminary findings of South Dakota's Housing Needs Analysis, a study conducted by Mullin & Lonergan Associates.  This half day session will be open to the public allowing citizens the opportunity to share their insights, concerns, and ideas for addressing South Dakota's housing needs.

Wednesday's full day agenda begins with Dr. Ernest Goss, the Jack MacAllister Chair in Regional Economics and Professor of Economics at Creighton University, providing national, regional, and state economic information.

Greg Gray, President of Renaissance Unlimited, Inc., will present an afternoon keynote address on "Desperately Seeking Service…getting your organization to look beyond satisfaction."  Greg, co-author of the largest customer service training course in U.S. history, will entertain and enlighten you on customer service and personal responsibility.

SDHDA also has a full line-up of breakout sessions sure to inform and update participants on the latest news and events related to South Dakota's housing industry.

Our first track of breakout sessions will cover issues of Fair Housing; environmental hazards to single and multifamily housing; the basics to affordable housing; and keeping America's community banks alive.

The second set of breakout sessions will explore design trends in today's housing;  risk management for multifamily properties; an update on Section 8 vouchers for homeownership; and a panel discussing how intertwined the lending, insurance, and real estate industries have become.

SDHDA's Conference will conclude with breakout sessions which include a national speaker on identity theft; a national consultant on mixed income issues; basic occupancy issues; and how we can work together to end homelessness in South Dakota.

SDHDA will also again be honoring an individual and an organization for their efforts in South Dakota's housing industry.  Nominations are being accepted through October 11, 2002. The Friend of Housing Awards Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2002.
