South Dakota Housing Development Authority is excited to announce that the Governor’s House Program will have a house on display at several Fairs across South Dakota. The Program, which began is 1996, was created as a way to provide reasonable sized, affordable homes to the elderly, people with disabilities, and income qualified families in South Dakota. Each home is 1,008 square feet and provides a pair of first-floor bedrooms. Each home is well insulated and low maintenance. If you have not had a chance to tour a Governor’s House this is a great opportunity to do so.
The Governor’s House will be on display at the Sioux Empire Fair August 4-12 in Sioux Falls, Brown County Fair August 13-19 in Aberdeen, Central States Fair August 17-26 in Rapid City, and The State Fair August 30-September 3 in Huron.
More than 2,000 Governor’s Houses have been sold in South Dakota. These residents have a quality, low-cost, energy efficient place to call home along with the opportunity to live independently.
